Sandusky, Ohio is home to Cedar Point which is the nation’s second oldest amusement park. This park first opened its doors in 1870 and has been providing family fun and entertainment for well over 100 years. Cedar Point has over 71 rides. This recreational area has at least 16 roller coasters which is the second highest amount for any amusement park.
At least 5 of the roller coasters that are available at Cedar Point are at least 200-feet tall. These coasters are extremely high and they help to add to the thrilling atmosphere that roller coasters can provide. The Blue Streak, Corkscrew and the Gemini are standard roller coaster rides that have been at Cedar Point for many years. Their latest roller coaster attraction is the Valravn.
Guests can also ride other attractions such as the Slingshot, Pipe Scream or the Mattehorn. These rides are a part of Cedar Point’s thrill section. The park also has a family section that offers Cadillac Cars, Giant Wheel and Tilt-a-Whirl. Visitors can also enjoy water themed fun at Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon. There is also a kid’s area filled with lots of fun vehicle rides for children.
Cedar Point is not just about the rides there are also live venues for various sporting events and musicals. Concerts are given at the park sometimes by professional musical artists. Park performers also act or sing here as well. Visitors with families should not forget about Camp Snoopy and Cedar Points Shore which is a water based amusement park that lies directly across the street from Cedar Point.
Keep in mind that Cedar Point is open from the begging of May and it closes on Labor Day in September. Then the park reopens again in October and in November for the Halloween season. Cedar Point is only open on the weekend during the holiday season.
The events associated with this time of the year is called HalloWeekends. Cedar attracts nearly 3.5 million visitors a year. Many visitors come from all over the U.S. during the summer vacation season. It is also visited by thousands of people from all over the world.
Keep in mind that lines for attractions at Cedar Point are very long. So, the park developed a Fast Lane system. This is a second line system where customers can pay extra money to get on the rides a lot quicker. There is also a quick queue system for Halloweekends.
The park offers nearby hotel accommodations and there are plenty of restaurants for guests as well. Park goers should arrive at the park as early as possible to get inside of the gate early. It will help to cut down on the wait time associated with many rides. Some lines for roller coasters can be at least an hour long.
Cedar Point also has a resort area for their guests. Visitors that stay in this area during their time at Cedar Point will be admitted into the park at least 1-hour before the general public. Once again, this will help to cut down on the long wait time for rides.
Guests can also stay at Camper Village and there are cabins and cottages at Lighthouse Point. Ultimately, Cedar Point has plenty of places for guests to stay if they want to experience the park for more than a day. Park hours are between generally between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. However, on some days the park can stay open until 12 a.m.
In 2027, the standard gate fee is $65 for a regular admission’s price. Guests can receive credits, coupons and discounts which can significantly lower their cost. Admission prices allow guests to ride most of the attractions without paying additional fees.
